With a population of approximately 400,000, the area is large enough to support both large and small wedding venues and reception facilities. Colorado Springs is also great for outdoor weddings. The Garden of the gods is a beautiful national Park that can make a spectacular backdrop for a wedding ceremony. As the home to the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base,and Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, Colorado Springs has a strong military foundation.For those enlisted in the armed forces, the first step is to contact a base commander to get more information about hosting ceremonies on the base.
The area also has an extremely strong religious foundation. Sometimes called "the Evangelical Vatican", in Colorado Springs has hundreds of individual churches representing a variety of different religions with a strong emphasis towards evangelical Christians. This means that many residents prefer a traditional religious ceremony in a church followed by a modest reception. Some churches include a limited reception facility and many couples also an search the surrounding area for a men's club or hotel to host their wedding reception.
